I am a former Director of RPS and Ashdown Environmental Ltd and have over 35 years research and project experience in acoustics covering transport, power, industrial, commercial and residential developments, recreation and building acoustics. I am an experienced project manager who is used to leading a team of consultants on multi-disciplinary projects and am widely involved in EIA work and the preparation of Environmental Statements for major infrastructure schemes. I have provided expert evidence at numerous Planning Inquiries on behalf of both private and public sector clients and sit on several committees dealing with noise for professional institutes and BSi. In my role as chairman of the Environmental Noise Group of the Institute of Acoustics, I am currently advising DEFRA on noise issues relating to the updating of PPG24 “Planning and Noise” to a PPS.

My aim is to combine the proven technical expertise and experience of a large company with the lower costs and overheads of a small company. This ensures my clients the best possible service at a cost-effective price.

Furthermore, as an individual, I can make decisions immediately and respond rapidly to my Clients’ requirements and requests. Through my network of associate consultants, I can tackle even the largest projects and can provide expert advice on practically all environmental issues. This approach is demonstrated by my Project list which ranges from small local clients to world-scale engineering projects and complete Environmental Impact Assessments for major developments.
